What is my Flow Prompter?

Your Flow Prompter is a word or behavior that reminds your mind to see those personal behaviors or habits that come so easily to you that you may be dismissing them as ordinary when, in fact, they have a good chance of being the foundation you've been seeking to reverse your type of lonely.

What is "flow"?

In 1975 psychologist Mihály Csíkszentmihályi ("Me-high Chick-sent-me-high)" outlined a theory about a state of being among humans that he called "flow".

"Flow" is the mental state of operation in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity. In essence, flow is characterized by complete absorption in what one does and loses sense of space and time.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flow_(psychology)

This state of being is biologically addictive by every modern measure, and recently scientist and writers have been working together to explain to lay people how they can access their own relative flow states in their lives.

Flow gives you special powers.

We are interested in this here because finding flow in your own life will help you to go beyond what you ever thought was possible. We are introducing the idea of flow because during this highly engaged state of being your body and brain are at their best. We are talking about flow because it is an indicator to you and (not surprisingly to others) of the most fascinating version of yourself, and this version of yourself is high attractive to others and it spawns connections.

Flow attracts connection.

Your type of loneliness is negatively correlated to your flow triggers. That said, as your flow state increases, your lonely state fades and vice versa. If you can find flow, you can lose loneliness. Since you are one step closer to understanding how to lose loneliness, you are one step closer to understanding how to find your flow triggers attracting connections simply by doing what you body's own gravitational pull will tell you it wants to do above all else.

Flow feeds on purpose and possibility.

While there are many ways to "hack" your flow triggers there are two things you can start doing right now, and this first module is going to help. The first thing is something that you likely already have in spades and that's a sense of purpose, a goal, an urgency to achieve something. Between your drive to reverse loneliness and your drive to reverse the course of your illness, this flow requirement is more than amply covered.

The second thing upon which flow thrives is a sense of possibility, and this is where everyone is a bit different. Each form of loneliness has a slightly different perspective on the shape and manifestation of imagining what's possible.  By looking for flow through the filter or frame of your own form of loneliness, you are able to see moments of possibility that have been right in front of your face the whole time.

What your mind sees is all your mind is capable of seeing. In the split second between sensing something and possibly knowing what it is the mind files through memories and compiles an interpretation of what the body is sensing before the conscious mind really has a chance to decide if that is possible. The good news, is that with practice we can train our mind to slow down and examine all possibilities before committing.

Look at this image, first made famous in 1899 by America psychologist Joseph Jastro, and depicted in a 2009 best-selling children's book by the late Amy Krouse Rosenthal.

How does our mind decide whether it sees a duck looking left or a rabbit looking right?

Around Easter more people see a rabbit in the image . . . Why? because we are primed with images of rabbits.

Finding your flow means finding yourself.

Our personal flow state comes directly from that which we have been primed by, and therefore can access most easily.

Said another way, our 'flow' state is usually adjacent or part of the easiest and most enjoyable interpretation of a situation. While in a state of flow, nothing stands in your way between what you are doing and what you are feeling. Great sex is the most universally used example of this truth. In this state you are the truest version of yourself that you are capable of knowing.

Your type of lonely offers a clue of where to find flow.

Knowing your type of lonely gives you specific prompt for finding your flow, and finding yourself. Depending on your type of lonely, Reverse Loneliness uses your loneliness specific prompt to prime you to see specific types of moments that are likely to match those that come to you most easily.

Often times that which comes so easily is overlooked as commonplace, when in reality it's your winning ticket hiding right in front of you!
